Canada Express Entry Draws Resumed After 2020 – 1,500 Candidates Invited to Apply for PR
Minister Fraser announces resumption of Express Entry draws
Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, announced on the 4th of July 2022 that commencing from the 6th of July, “qualified candidates will be invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada”. The programs under which such candidates may apply include the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class programs.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score draw was held on the 6th of July and was set at 557 points, a higher score in comparison to the previous years. Nevertheless, a high CRS score was expected by many due to the time that has elapsed since invitations to apply were last granted. This last occurred in December 2020, with the minimum score required being 468 points. This year, 1,500 ITAs (invitations to apply) were issued by the Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to those who satisfied the minimum CRS score requirement. The 1,500 candidates were selected from a total of 2,26,849 individuals.
The next step for the candidates who received ITA (invitations to apply) would be to send their applications to IRCC within 60 days. These applications will usually process within six months.
